Redhill turned in another strong away performance at Spelthorne to record a second consecutive win on the road

Redhill followed their confident 1-0 away win at Raynes Park Vale on Tuesday last with another solid performance away at Spelthorne Sports.

The Lobsters' tempo was high right from the off and they were unlucky not to score after 15 minutes, when a rasping low shot from McArdle came off the foot of the left-hand post. The visitors dominated the first half possession with Snadden hitting the cross bar with a near-post glancing header from a McArdle corner.

Marks, Kedze and Pinder were seeing plenty of the ball and causing the Spelthorne back four no end of trouble. However, it was Left Back Alex Rose who opened the scoring after dribbling his way across the face of the 18-yard box and slotting home a sweet low finish into the left-hand corner of the net to put the Lobsters in front.

Soon after, McArdle picked up a pass on the edge of the box and weaved his way through the Spelthorne defence before being brought down for an unequivocal penalty. He cooly slotted it away to give Redhill a deserved 2-0 lead. Marks soon followed up with a stinging left foot shot that again came off the post. It could have been a much higher margin at the half-time break!

Spelthorne came out a much more determined side and made Redhill work hard throughout the second half. With Marks and McArdle coming off, Campbell continued the hard work up front and Cook brought a degree more composure to the Lobsters who were struggling at times with Spelthorne's physicality.

A fantastic reflex reaction from keeper Volkaty, yet again, ensured that Redhill brought home the points and another clean sheet. Bolagi played a captain’s role throughout the 90 minutes with a positively dominant midfield performance. It’s Gordon and Teasdale however who will probably take most pleasure from overturning the 3-2 defeat to Spelthorne when they met on 8th March last, and chalking up 6 wins and 1 draw in the last 11 games!

A special word of thanks to the folks at Spelthorne Sports for their friendliness and warm hospitality.
