Horley Town 1 Redhill 4 - Saturday, 30th November 2024
Redhill secured their ninth away win in the league this season and kept their three-point lead at the top of the Premier South table after a highly eventful local derby at Horley on Saturday.
The Lobsters were quickly ahead before a crowd of just under 200 on a dull afternoon at the New Defence. After just four minutes Callum McAllister slipped a pass out to the unmarked Ethan Ford on the left and he ran on to fire a left-footer into the far top corner. On 20 minutes it could easily have been 2-0 as Alex Keating was tripped after turning a defender in front of goal but veteran 'keeper George Hyde guessed right to palm away Keating's spot-kick.
There was a crazy last few minutes to the half as three players were red-carded. Redhill's Sam Fitzgerald was the first to go for upending Coby Acquaye as the last man and two Horley players, Acquaye and Matt Rapson, followed after picking up their second yellows. Fitzgerald's indiscretion led to a free-kick that Sam Remfry drove to the left of the defensive wall and past Luke Roberts to make it 1-1 at half-time.
By the midway point of the second half the Lobsters had notched three more goals, Ford completing his hat-trick with brave close-range finishes on 53 and 59 minutes before Keating powered in a header from an Olly Allen free-kick on 67 minutes. Redhill substitute Timmy Obisanya was the next player to be sent off and two more, Horley's Joe Carrington and Redhill's McAllister, also saw red after a melee three minutes into added time.
