Jordan Clark pleased with first win over Tadley Calleva

Tadley Calleva 0 Redhill 2 - Saturday, 2nd November 2024

A Redhill side playing with desire and determination battled to a 2-0 win away to Tadley Calleva on Saturday that took them three points clear at the top of the Premier South table. Two days into November the Lobsters have already amassed 41 points and have only tasted defeat once in their 16 league matches.

Tadley's ground at Barlows Park hasn't been a happy venue for Redhill in recent seasons. They had a last-minute effort hit both posts when losing 2-1 last season and had two players red-carded as they went down 2-0 in the season before that. The Tadley "Romans" were sixth in the table and had won five games in a row before they clashed with the Lobsters on Saturday before a modest crowd on a dull November afternoon.

It was a tough opening period, notable for three players being booked in quick succession, but the Redhill supporters dotted around the ground didn't have to wait too long to see their team take the lead. On 16 minutes skipper Eoin Fraser fed Nathan Hogan out on the right wing and his cross was perfectly placed for Alex Keating to nod the ball past home 'keeper Craig Atkinson who couldn't quite get his right hand to it.

Hogan was irrepressible in the second half, peppering the Tadley goal with shots. The most audacious was one from about a yard inside the right touchline which shocked Atkinson by striking the top of his left-hand post. The home side threw everything forward near the end as corners, free-kicks and long throws soared towards Redhill's goal. But substitute Abel Vendrells was bundled over inside the box a minute from the end of normal time and Hogan hammered home the spot-kick to clinch the win.
