Lobster's second-half goals overwhelm the visitors

Ford terrorises Tadley defence and Allen puts in another masterful midfield performance

Redhill 5 Tadley Calleva 0 - Saturday, 22nd March 2025

After a tentative start Redhill ended up swamping Tadley Calleva 5-0 in Saturday's Premier South clash at Kiln Brow. The Lobsters kept their three-point lead at the top of the table with four games to play and also gave their goal difference a boost.

Hampshire side Tadley, who were just outside the play-off places, put Redhill under a lot of pressure in the opening minutes and Adam Everiss's shot through a crowd of players struck a post. But against the run of play the Lobsters took a 14th-minute lead, Sean Swift's header from a Tommy Smith free-kick too firm for the 'keeper's right hand.

A shot from Redhill full-back Arlie Talboys was deflected behind for a corner and the home side still led 1-0 at the end of a first half that arguably Tadley had shaded. But the Lobsters scored a second just seven minutes after the restart, Swift flicking on Archie Harland-Goddard's long throw for Charlie Penny to net his first goal for the club from close range.

Flying left-winger Ethan Ford substituted for Seb Tauta-Caballero and had a sensational impact on the game as he helped Redhill to add three more goals in the last eight minutes. His low crosses on the run from the left were converted in the goalmouth by Adam Grant on 82 minutes and by Eoin Fraser three minutes later. Then there was still enough time for Ford to get on the scoresheet himself with a blistering shot into the far corner that gave Craig Atkinson no chance of making a save.

So the Lobsters march on to Tuesday night's massive game at The Brow against third-placed AFC Whyteleafe.
