Match Report

Redhill blitzed the Tooting & Mitcham United "Terrors" 4-0 in Tuesday night's Premier South fixture at Kiln Brow. It technically took them up to top spot just four games into the league season and was certainly a great confidence booster before Saturday's big FA Cup tie at home to Virginia Water.

Tooting enjoyed plenty of possession in the early minutes but all they had to show for it was a Max Oldham free-kick that drifted a yard wide of Sam Allen's right-hand post. Then two goals inside five minutes close to the half-hour mark suddenly put the Lobsters 2-0 ahead.

Visiting 'keeper Oliver Pain couldn't deal with Seanan McKillop's free-kick into a populated box and an alert Archie Harland-Goddard headed the ball over him into an unguarded net with brother Tom and Aidan Brown there to chase it home if that had been required. Then George Bond surged forward on the left for Brown to tap home his firm and inch-perfect cross to the far post.

Alex Keating replaced Brown midway through the second half and notched his first goal of the campaign ten minutes from time, side-footing home from close range after the energetic Ethan Ford had thumped the ball across from the left. Almost immediately he could have grabbed another after a misplaced Tooting back-pass went high into the air but Pain rushed out to block.

For a player to score direct from a corner is a rarity but McKillop achieved it for the second time in four games in the 90th minute to put the gloss on what turned out to be a highly impressive Redhill victory.
