A solid and committed performance at Chalky Lane on Tuesday night, in which the whole Redhill team played their part, brought home the points in a 2-0 win against Epsom & Ewell.
After some sparring in the opening quarter of an hour, the visiting Lobsters looked set to take the lead as Jayden Smith outpaced two defenders on the left before cutting in for a right-foot blast that Salts 'keeper Ben Grummitt pushed away with some difficulty.
It was Redhill who notched goals on 28 and 34 minutes to put themselves on course for an important victory after only drawing their opening fixture. Tyrese Sutherland received a pass on the edge of a crowded box and somehow squeezed a low left-footer into the far corner. Then Eoin Fraser chased down a ball over the advancing Salts back-three and cleverly lifted it over the 'keeper and inches under the bar.
Both teams had plenty of chances in the second half. Grummitt saved spectacularly from Sutherland and substitute Ryan Ferrar while Lobsters 'keeper James Dillon's positioning was always faultless as the Epsom shots rained in.
Redhill are in Emirates FA Cup action on Saturday when they welcome Isthmian side Ashford United to Kiln Brow.
